Pratika Rawal has handed India a timely boost ahead of the upcoming ODI series against Australia after successfully completing her rehabilitation and recovering fully from an ankle injury.
The batter sustained the injury in October during India’s ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 clash against Bangladesh. The setback ruled her out of the crucial semi-final and final stages of the tournament, forcing the team management to bring in Shafali Verma as her replacement. Since then, Rawal has been sidelined and has not featured in any competitive cricket.
Now, after an extensive rehabilitation programme at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Centre of Excellence, Rawal has regained full fitness and has been officially added to the squad for the Australia ODIs. Her return strengthens India’s batting unit at a critical juncture as the team prepares for a challenging assignment against a formidable opponent.
The updated squad reflects a blend of experience and youth. Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the side as captain, with Smriti Mandhana serving as vice-captain. Alongside Rawal and Shafali Verma, the batting department also includes Jemimah Rodrigues and Harleen Deol.
The bowling attack features key names such as Renuka Thakur, Sneh Rana, and Deepti Sharma, while the wicketkeeping duties will be shared between Richa Ghosh and Uma Chetry. Emerging talents such as Sree Charani, Vaishnavi Sharma, Kranti Gaud, Kashvee Gautam, and Amanjot Kaur also find places in the squad.
Rawal’s comeback is expected to add depth and stability to the top order. Having missed the decisive stages of the World Cup, she will be eager to make an immediate impact and re-establish her rhythm in international cricket.
With the Australia series on the horizon, India’s refreshed squad, bolstered by Rawal’s return, signals renewed confidence and ambition as the team looks to make a strong statement in the 50-over format.
