Gujarat Giants have bolstered their coaching staff ahead of the 2025 Women’s Premier League (WPL) season by appointing Pravin Tambe as their new bowling coach. The team also announced Daniel Marsh as the batting coach, while Michael Klinger continues as head coach for a second consecutive season.
Tambe, who rose to fame after making his IPL debut at the age of 41 with Rajasthan Royals, brings a wealth of experience to the Giants. His coaching credentials include stints with IPL franchises Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants.
Marsh, a seasoned coach, previously led the Tasmania Men’s team from 2013 to 2017 and has been an assistant coach for the Australian Women’s Team since 2022. His experience working with elite cricketers is expected to strengthen the Giants’ batting lineup.
Klinger, who joined the team last season, brings extensive coaching expertise, including roles with Melbourne Renegades in the Big Bash League and Sydney Thunder in the Women’s Big Bash League. He also coaches Manchester Originals in The Hundred.
Reflecting on the upcoming season, Klinger said, “We laid solid groundwork last season, and I’m excited to build on that with the talented players we have retained in the squad. Our focus remains on fostering a winning mindset and pushing the boundaries of what we can achieve as a team.”
Despite their high-profile coaching lineup, the Giants have struggled in the WPL, finishing last in both the 2023 and 2024 seasons. However, the franchise is optimistic about turning its fortunes around with a revamped coaching staff and the valuable experience many players have gained representing India internationally since the last WPL season.
The upcoming 2025 Player Auction, scheduled for December 15 in Bengaluru, will provide the Giants with an opportunity to strengthen their squad further. With 120 players set to go under the hammer, the franchise aims to build a balanced team capable of competing at the highest level.
The Giants are looking to make a fresh start in the 2025 season and will rely on their experienced coaching team and renewed strategy to break their run of disappointing performances in the league.
