Lahore Qalandars pacer Zaman Khan stated that it is good to learn from Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf in the ongoing Pakistan Super League. Khan played a key role in his team’s win as Lahore Qalandars defeated Peshawar Zalmi by 29 runs at the National Stadium, Karachi on Wednesday.
Zaman Khan scalped three wickets and conceded only 32 runs in his quota of four overs to help his team restrict the opposition at 170-9 after they posted 199 runs on the board. Khan is still young in his career but he has shown the skills to go a long way in his career.
The right-arm medium pacer accounted for Kamran Akmal, Hussain Talat, and Sherfane Rutherford as he got the crucial wickets for his team. Apart from him, Shaheen Shah Afridi and David Wiese scalped two wickets each.
Khan was awarded the Player of the Match and this performance will surely add a shot to his arm.
Zaman Khan said in the post-match presentation, “I’m feeling happy, the wishes and prayers from the coaches and wellwishers have helped. We had a camp for 20 days where we worked on yorkers and slower deliveries. Shaheen Bhai and Haris Rauf are stars for Pakistan and it’s good to learn from them”.
On the other hand, David Wiese had a hat-trick chance as he dismissed Wahab Riaz and Arish Ali Khan on consecutive balls in the final over but could not get the third wicket.
He said after the game, “The elusive hat-trick continues to elude me, time’s running out but hopefully it comes soon. The boys stuck to it tonight, despite the poor fielding. Every season there’s an emerging talent out here, they are not afraid to take the ball in the powerplay and bowl at 90mph. Unbelievable skill really. Lahore as a team are very supportive and have always been”.
Lahore Qalandars have now won two out of their three matches and they will look to continue the good show. Shaheen Shah Afridi-led team will take on Islamabad United on Saturday at the same venue.
