Karachi Kings captain Babar Azam has said that they will look to turn the tables in Lahore and correct their mistakes which they made while playing in Karachi.
Kings lost their straight fifth game of the season against Islamabad United by 42 runs at the National Stadium, Karachi on Sunday to continue their horrid start.
The Babar Azam-led team once again could not deliver the goods with the bat as they could only manage 135 runs in their 20 overs. In fact, Karachi Kings have been let down by their batting as they haven’t been able to put enough runs on the board.
Meanwhile, ISU posted a fighting score of 177 runs after Shadab Khan won the toss and decided to bat first. However, apart from Mohammad Nabi, who top-scored for Karachi Kings with 47 runs, none of the batters could get going in the run-chase. Thus, KK could not get going at all in their run-chase.
Shadab Khan was the pick of the bowlers for Islamabad United as he scalped four wickets and conceded only 15 runs in his quota of four overs.
Babar Azam said in the post-match presentation, “Unfortunately we lost all the games so far and hopefully we can turn it around and want to keep that belief and confidence going for the rest of the season. Whatever mistakes we did here we will try to avoid in Lahore. No partnerships with the bat tonight and nothing went to plan today”.
On the other hand, Islamabad United’s opener Paul Stirling continued his rich form in the tournament. The right-hander scored a fine knock of 39 runs off just 30 balls and gave another good start to his team.
Stirling said after the game, “It’s been brilliant, good batting tracks here. I think that was the best performance, we spoke about complete team game two nights ago and we did it. It’s fun to watch him (Hales) take on the bowlers and watch from the other end”.
Meanwhile, Karachi Kings will need to turn the corner in Lahore to make their way into the playoff stages. Karachi Kings will next face Peshawar Zalmi on Sunday at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
