Peshawar Zalmi all-rounder Hussain Talat has stated that he tries to give his best whenever he gets a chance to play. Talat hasn’t been getting a lot of opportunities due to the team’s composition but he is looking to grab his chances.
The left-handed batter got his chance against Quetta Gladiators in the 22nd match of the ongoing Pakistan Super League 2022 and he was able to hang on to it with both hands.
The southpaw scored a fine knock of 51 runs off just 33 balls with the help of six fours and one six. He added 73 runs with veteran batter Shoaib Malik, who scored 41-ball 58. Thus, the duo played a key role in helping Peshawar Zalmi post 185 runs on the board after Wahab Riaz won the toss and decided to bat first.
Furthermore, Talat conceded only eight runs in the two overs he bowled and accounted for Quetta Gladiators captain Sarfaraz Ahmed. Thus, he played a key role in his team’s 24 run-win at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore on Tuesday.
Hussain Talat was awarded the Player of the match for his fine performance with both bat as well as the ball.
He said in the post-match presentation, “The management told me to rest for one game and got me back for today’s game. Whenever I play I try and give my best. I keep practicing on my bowling and Riaz is always behind me to bowl more in the nets. It was difficult to play cross-batted shots but batting with Shoaib Malik makes my job easier”.
On the other hand, Peshawar Zalmi captain Wahab Riaz was delighted with the collective effort of his team. Riaz also heaped praise on Usman Qadir who scalped three wickets and conceded only 25 runs in his quota of four overs.
Riaz said after the game, “We have been seeing runs on the board is better as the ball holds to the surface and that’s the reason we played an extra spinner. We got two good partnerships after losing early wickets and that is what we need keep doing. It is difficult for the fast bowlers to grip the ball because of the dew but you need to be smart. We believe in match-ups; it was difficult to leave out Haider and Butt, but we brought in Qadir and Talat and they both did well today”.
Peshawar Zalmi will next face Islamabad United at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore on Thursday.
