Lahore Qalandars fast bowler Zaman Khan has revealed his goal is to take Babar Azam’s wicket in the ongoing Pakistan Super League. Khan was up against Pakistan skipper when Lahore Qalandars took on Peshawar Zalmi at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore on Sunday.
But the pacer could not savor success against the talisman batter. However, it was LHQ skipper Shaheen Shah Afridi, who cleaned up the right-hander after he had scored only seven runs.
LHQ went on to win by a huge margin of 40 runs and Zaman Khan also contributed to the team’s victory as he returned with figures of 2-28 in the three overs he bowled.
Zaman Khan accounted for Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Rovman Powell in his fine spell. Meanwhile, Khan had dropped Babar Azam’s catch in the previous season when the latter was leading Karachi Kings.
“My goal is to take Babar Azam’s wicket. Unfortunately, last year I dropped the catch myself, but this time, I am hopeful that I will be able to get him out,” Zaman was quoted as saying.
Zaman is in the elite company of LHQ skipper Shaheen Shah Afridi and gun fast bowler Haris Rauf. The 21-year-old youngster revealed he is learning from the experienced duo.
“Shaheen and Haris are both international players and I get the opportunity to learn from them,” he stated.
Zaman added that he practices bowling yorkers and the slower balls to succeed in the white-ball format and Afridi is giving him confidence in the ongoing league.
“Whenever our red-ball season ends, we practice white-ball bowling, especially in the death overs, where we learn to bowl yorkers and slower ones. This helps in the match and the skipper enjoys it and gives me confidence,” Zaman added.
Zaman Khan has so far scalped four wickets in four matches at an average of 27.25 and economy rate of 8.38 in the ongoing PSL 2023.
