Multan Sultans, Lahore Qalandars, Peshawar Zalmi, and Islamabad United were able to qualify for the playoff stages in the eighth edition of the ongoing Pakistan Super League. Lahore Qalandars finished the league stage at the top of the points with seven wins in 10 matches.
There were some brilliant batting performances in the league stage of the tournament. We take a look at the top three run-getters of the league stage.
Mohammad Rizwan: Multan Sultans skipper Mohammad Rizwan continued his dream run in the tournament. The right-hander scored 483 runs in 10 matches at an average of 60.38 and a strike rate of 145.05.
Thus, he played an instrumental role in helping MS qualify for the playoff stages. Rizwan’s best knock came against Karachi Kings when he smashed 110 runs off just 64 balls with a strike rate of more than 170. He smashed 10 fours and four sixes in his blistering knock.
Babar Azam: Babar Azam had scored 343 runs in PSL 2022 but scored his runs at a strike rate of 118.68 while leading Karachi Kings. However, he was able to turn the tables while leading Peshawar Zalmi in PSL 2023 as he amassed 416 runs in nine matches at an average of 52 and a strike rate of 146.48.
Azam’s best knock in the league stage came against Quetta Gladiators
when he thwarted 115 runs off just 65 balls but his efforts went in vain
his team ended up on the losing side.
Imad Wasim: Karachi Kings skipper Imad Wasim was able to lead his team from the front. The left-hander performed consistently with the bat while batting down the order.
The southpaw scored 404 runs in 10 matches at a splendid average of 134.67 and a whirlwind strike rate of 176.46. However, his efforts were could not take his team to the last four of the tournament as he failed to receive support from the other batters.
