Former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri shares a great bonhomie with former Indian skipper Virat Kohli. The duo worked wonders for the team and delivered in all three formats of the game. Shastri, who knows Kohli from close quarters, admitted the veteran batter is arrogant, spoiled brat, over the top, on edge when he is on the field but he is totally the opposite off the field.
Kohli is known to wear his heart on his sleeve and gives his 120% on every ball he plays, either with the bat or in the field. The veteran always wants to be in the contest and plays aggressively to get the best out of himself and his team.
Kohli has also played a key role in revolutionising Indian cricket and the team was always fearless under his captaincy.
“Arrogant. Spoiled brat. Over the top. On edge. Everything true, but on the field. Totally the opposite off it. I love people who have the ability to switch on like that and then switch off,” Ravi Shastri said in a video posted on the One8 YouTube channel.
Shastri also revealed that he identified Virat Kohli as the India’s next leader when MS Dhoni was leading the team.
Meanwhile, Kohli was recently ruled out of the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan due to a hamstring injury, which he suffered in IPL 2026 final against Gujarat Titans. Kohli played a crucial knock of 75 runs off just 42 balls in the summit clash when RCB were chasing 155 runs for the win.
Kohli amassed 675 runs in 16 matches of IPL 2026 and played an instrumental role in taking RCB to their second consecutive IPL title.
