Former Indian all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin has showered praise on Aman Rao after the youngster scored a stunning double century in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy. The 21-year-old scored a magnum opus knock of 200 runs off just 154 balls with the help of a dozen fours and 13 sixes against Bengal.
Thus, the right-hander helped Hyderabad post a par score of 352 runs on the board and his team registered a comprehensive 107-run win. The former CSK spinner, Ashwin, lauded Rajasthan Royals’ scouting team for roping in the services of Aman Rao. The inaugural champions were able bag the services of the batter at his base price of INR 30 lakhs in IPL 2026 mini auction.
“Scouting is a frequently used term in modern day cricket and most franchisees recruit several scouts in order to ensure they don’t miss out on match winners like Bumrah and Hardik. Having mentioned two wonderful picks from the MI stables, it’s important to place RR right up there in the top 2. Yet again RR have struck gold through Aman Rao, he just went ahead smashed a double hundred in the VHT against Bengal,” R Ashwin posted on X.
Ashwin noted how the youngster changed his gears after reaching his hundred, scoring the second century off just 46 balls.
“What stood out with Aman was that his innings wasn’t in one tempo, which you often see with modern day batters. His first 100 came from 108 balls, after which he went on beast mode. He got his next 100 in just 46 deliveries and some of those hits were monstrous, which illustrated his power hitting prowess. The shot of the day was when he picked a slower delivery from Shami and timed it smoothly over extra cover for a six. Can’t wait to watch how Aman progresses from here on,” Ashwin added.
Aman has scored 301 runs in 11 T20 matches at an average of 33.44 and a strike rate of 162.70.
