Former Indian all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin has picked Prasidh Krishna as Team India’s biggest positive after the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka. After the second Test ended in a draw at Colombo, India won the series by 1-0.Meanwhile, Krishna scalped seven wickets in two Test matches at an average of 24.57 against Sri Lanka. The Karnataka pacer bowled better than Mohammed Siraj, who could only take four wickets in the series.

Ashwin also picked Manav Suthar’s performance in the opening Test as the second positive for India. Suthar bagged a 10-wicket haul in the series opener, including figures of 6-55 in the second innings.

“If I was in the Indian dressing room and thinking, the biggest positive for me in the series was Prasidh Krishna, and then Manav Suthar’s performance in the first Test would be the second biggest positive. In many ways, you could even say Dhruv Jurel, but the way Prasidh Krishna came in, he has given a really good account of himself in this Test series. It is a tough challenge for a bowler in the subcontinent, and he did really well,” R Ashwin said on his YouTube channel.

On the other hand, Devdutt Padikkal was able to grab his opportunity with both hands in the absence of injured Sai Sudharsan. Padikkal scored 328 runs in three innings at an average of 109.33 and was awarded Player of the Series. Ashwin said Padikkal has put the number three debate to bed with his consistent performances.

“Devdutt Padikkal has to start as the No.3 batter for India in New Zealand. What more can he do? He has scored runs in first-class cricket, and he was waiting for his chance. In fact, he is now ahead of Sai Sudharsan. Even if Sai Sudharsan was fit, Devdutt should have gotten the nod. He’s now put the No.3 debate to bed. My concern is that now that he has 2 hundreds in Sri Lanka, it should not happen that he edges one in New Zealand and gets judged immediately,” Ashwin added.

India will next take on Afghanistan in a three-match T20I series in Delhi.
