Former Indian all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin has predicted that Gujarat Titans will win their second IPL title. Ashwin is confident that GT will beat RR in the second qualifier at New Chandigarh on Friday.
The former CSK spinner reckons the defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru will have no chance against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad in the IPL final on Sunday. GT has an impressive record while playing at their home venue, winning five out of their seven games in Ahmedabad this season.
Meanwhile, RCB had registered a comprehensive 92-run win against GT in the first qualifier at Dharamshala.
Ashwin said on his YouTube Channel, “GT will 100% beat RR all the way. I can give it in writing. And if GT qualify for the final, they are winning the trophy for sure. They’ve the Ahmedabad track measured to an inch. GT will win their second title. RCB’s only hope is to catch a flight and stop GT in Mullanpur itself because they’ve no chance in Ahmedabad.”
Ashwin said GT will win against RR despite Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s dream form.
“The truth is RR should beat GT in Qualifier 2 in terms of analysis. Yet, GT will win. Vaibhav Suryavanshi will be a massive factor, but he knows he has to be careful against Siraj and Rabada. Even though he scored some in the two matches against GT, he didn’t go helter-skelter. He has to surely score and I want him to but I strongly believe GT are winning.”
On the other hand, Ashwin urged GT to replace Kulwant Khejroliya with either Ashok Sharma or Arshad Khan.
“GT should drop Kulwant Khejrolia and replace him with Ashok Sharma or Arshad Khan. But they shouldn’t drop Nishant Sindhu,” he said (via the aforementioned source).
GT will take on RR in the second qualifier on Friday.
