The report also sheds light on the management’s long-term plans for leadership. While Shubman Gill has shown immense promise, insiders suggest he needs more time and grooming to be considered for a captaincy role. Additionally, Suryakumar Yadav, despite being a T20 stalwart, has yet to cement his place in the 50-over format.
“Gill needs more grooming to mature into a leader, and SKY’s ODI performances haven’t been convincing enough. Hardik remains the most balanced option to lead India in ODIs if Rohit is unavailable,” the source added.
