Former Indian Test opener Sadagopan Ramesh has predicted that Rohit Sharma will score a century in one of the last two games against the West Indies. Sharma was dismissed early in the opening ODI against the West Indies at the Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday.
The veteran scored 32 runs off 34 balls in the run-chase of 296. The Indian opener was put under pressure as Alzarri Joseph bowled nine consecutive dot balls to him. The veteran batter went for the aerial shot and was caught in the deep by Jewel Andrew.
Meanwhile, Rohit had scored a brilliant knock of 138 runs off just 110 balls in the last ODI of the series against England while playing away.
Sadagopan Ramesh said on his Instagram handle, “Just look at India’s last two ODIs. Rohit scores a century in one and Virat in the other. It clearly tells you that these two should be left alone. Also, if one catches fire, it spreads to the other. So, in the remaining two matches of this series, Rohit will also definitely score a century. When one scores a century between these two, the other tries to score one within the next series. This shows that they are clearly feeding off each other and going from strength to strength. They are on fire together.”
The former flamboyant batter backed Virat Kohli to cause more damage to the West Indies in the last two games. Kohli scored an unbelievable knock of 139 runs off just 88 balls on Sunday in the run chase of 296.
“Kohli has two more innings against the West Indies, and he’ll definitely demolish them before they leave. Both Kohli and Rohit are batting like wounded tigers. I expect at least one century from Rohit or Virat in the final two ODIs,” said Ramesh (via the aforementioned source).
The second ODI between India and the West Indies will be played at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati on Wednesday.
