Former Indian Test opener Sadagopan Ramesh said Yashasvi Jasiwal will get a feeling of insecurity after getting dropped from England ODIs despite scoring a century in third ODI against Afghanistan. Jaiswal scored a stunning knock of 110 runs in the run chase of 219 against the visitors at Chennai on Saturday but he was not picked for England ODIs.

The left-hander had replaced Virat Kohli in the ODI squad for Afghanistan series after the latter was ruled out with a hamstring injury, which he suffered in IPL 2026 final against Gujarat Titans. Jaiswal has scored two centuries in his young ODI career but there is no regular place for him in the ODI team.

Ramesh said on his YouTube Channel, “To be dropped a day after scoring a hundred is truly unlucky. My advice to Jaiswal would be to turn himself into a wicketkeeper (sarcasm). A select few players are dropped immediately after scoring a century. When that happens, the player gets a feeling of insecurity.”

On the other hand, India’s ODI captain Shubman Gill said Jaiswal will have to miss out in the team when everyone’s available.

“We all know he is a phenomenal player and it’s not easy for any player (to sit out). If all the players are available, he is the unfortunate one who sometimes misses out and he got a couple of games in this series and he played really well today. So, hopefully he will continue to perform and he will continue to keep grabbing the opportunities that he gets,” said Gill on Jaiswal after the 3rd Afghanistan ODI in the press conference.

India will play three ODIs against England, starting from July 14 at Birmingham.
