India’s leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has stated that we will see a more confident ‘Yuzi’ in the upcoming series against Sri Lanka. Chahal hasn’t been in the best of forms in the recent past and he will need to turn the tables in the upcoming series to make a case for himself in the T20I World Cup squad.
Chahal has been on the expensive side in the shortest format of the game and he hasn’t been able to provide the breakthroughs at the crucial stages. Chahal wasn’t in the best of forms in the first phase of IPL 2021 as he scalped four wickets in seven matches and bowled with an average of 47.50 and an economy rate of 8.26.
Yuzvendra Chahal told reporters, “I’ve a couple of variations and I’m focusing on that only, not using other deliveries. You will see a more confident Yuzi in this series. I’m just working on my angles and in general trying to bowl more.”
Chahal feels he hasn’t lost his form and added that a player can not perform in every match.
“My performance – I don’t think it was a dip (in form) or anything. You can’t perform in every match. I will try my level best. This series is very important to me. I keep talking to the bowling coach. There is confidence now … My main focus at the moment is just this series.”
The leg-spinner from Haryana added that he wants to give his best and his focus is on the next series, the IPL and the T20 World Cup.
“There’s been lesser cricket over the last year, but that’s not in our hands. Whatever series happens, we want to perform. Then, my focus would be IPL and then the World T20.”
Chahal will look to turn the tables in the series against Sri Lanka and get back his lost confidence. The first ODI between India and Sri Lanka will be played at R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium on 13th July.
