Former England fast bowler Stuart Broad has expressed excitement to watch Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in England. Sooryavanshi had hogged all the limelight after impressing one and all with his pyrotechnics in IPL 2026.
Sooryavanshi, who had failed to convert his starts into big scores earlier in the tri-series, smashed a magnum opus knock of 94 runs off just 29 balls against Sri Lanka A at Dambulla on Sunday. He scored the fastest List A half-century, taking just 11 deliveries to get to the personal milestone.
The left-hander hit 10 fours and eight sixes in his blistering knock as he batted at the top of his game. The youngster scored his runs at a whirlwind strike rate of 324.14 and played a key role in helping India post an above-par score of 377 runs on the board.
Recently, the southpaw scored 776 runs (highest in the tournament) in 16 matches of IPL 2026 for Rajasthan Royals and played a key role in taking the franchise to the playoffs.
Broad hailed Sooryavanshi for completing his fifty off just 11 balls against Sri Lanka A.
“He’s got it all, hasn’t he? He’s got it all. He’s even getting into sledging now. OK, the cricket’s too easy. 11 balls. That’s crazy. I’m sure you’re probably not hoping, but I’m doing the first T20 up in Durham against India, what’s that, July the 1st? Wednesday, July the 1st? I just hope he plays. I really, I’ve actually got to be honest, I think I might be starstruck by him,” Broad said on the For the Love of Cricket podcast.
The former lanky pacer said Sooryavanshi is just unbelievable as he is delivering consistently at the top level.
“And do you know what? It’s not just us buying into the hype. I mean, you’ve obviously seen him, you’ve kept to him. I’ve spent the week with Dinesh Karthik, who’s one of the coaches, an assistant coach at RCB. And, of course, I’m like, seriously, what do you think of this guy? He’s unbelievable. He’s seriously unbelievable. You can’t get your head around how good this kid is,” he added.
India will play five T20Is against England.
