Legendary Sunil Gavaskar reckons a bad day at the office can only stop India from defending their T20 World Cup title. India has been in supreme form and have taken an impregnable lead of 3-0 in the five-match T20I series against New Zealand.
Suryakumar Yadav’s team won the third game against the Kiwis comprehensively by eight wickets at Guwahati on Sunday. Earlier, India won the T20I series against South Africa, Australia, and also won the Asia Cup.
Sunil Gavaskar said on Sportstar, “Of course, in this ultra-short format of the game, one good over in either innings can turn a match on its head, so nothing is guaranteed. But the Indian team is playing some incredible cricket, and it will take a really bad day at the office for them to be defeated.”
The Little Master said teams would be fearing India after their clinical performance against New Zealand in the third T20I.
“The comprehensive win in Guwahati showed just why this team is to be feared. It was as complete a performance as one could hope to see. The bowling was outstanding and the catching superb, with former captain Hardik Pandya leading the way with a catch that set the standard for the rest of the day.”
India has been able to tick the right boxes in the shortest format of the game and would want to carry the good show into the T20 World Cup. The Men in Blue has come up with a collective effort in the T20I format.
The fourth T20I between India and New Zealand will be played at Visakhapatnam on Wednesday.
