Pandya, despite his extensive experience and leadership capabilities, has been sidelined due to fitness issues. KL Rahul is currently the favourite to lead the side, but there are considerations to groom a younger player, such as Shubman Gill or Rishabh Pant, who can eventually take over from Rohit Sharma.
