Former West Indies fast bowler Ian Bishop reckons there are no clear favorites in the T20 World Cup and feels there are a lot of contenders who can go all the way in the marquee event.
In fact, it is well known that any team can surprise anyone in the shortest format of the game on a given day and the match can turn on its head in a matter of deliveries.
It is expected that England, India are the favorites to go all the way in the T20I showpiece as they have formidable units. New Zealand also has a good team whereas Pakistan and West Indies can surprise any team on their given day.
West Indies are two-time champions but they lost both their warm-up matches. However, the Caribbean nation is full of T20 stars, who have vast experience under their belt.
Australia isn’t in the best of forms but it would be foolish to rule them out of the World Cup race as they have the experienced players in their team. All these will look to come up with collective efforts and bring their best to the table in the big matches.
“We have to be realistic, there are lots of contenders,” former West Indies bowler Bishop told Betway.
“England have got guys who are aggressive with the bat. India has stars throughout its line-up. New Zealand is beginning to hit more boundaries and have a dangerous bowling attack. Pakistan is dangerous with the ball. “But the West Indies have so much experience now, so I have my fingers crossed that they can go well,” Bishop said.
Meanwhile, India won both of their warm-up matches and they certainly look good to go all the way. England has aggressive batters like Jonny Bairstow, Jason Roy, and Jos Buttler in their team, who have the skills to turn the match on its head.
West Indies are filled with T20 stars like Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo, Chris Gayle, and Andre Russell, who will all look to deliver for their team.
Australia and South Africa will begin the Super 12s stage as they will face off each other on Saturday.
