Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar hailed Virat Kohli after the talismanic batter played one of the best knocks of his career. Tendulkar tipped Kohli’s unbeaten knock of 82 runs off 53 balls against Pakistan at the MCG as the best ever of his glorious career.
India was under the pump at 31-4 and could only put 45 runs on the board in the first 10 overs while chasing 160 runs against the arch-rivals. However, Kohli and Hardik Pandya kept India afloat with their partnership of 113 runs off just 78 balls.
Kohli was at his lethal best as he took the attack against the Pakistan bowlers, especially at the fag end of the innings. The 32-year-old scored 71 runs off the last 33 balls he faced as he batted at the top of his game to get across the line.
28 runs were needed off the final eight balls but Kohli smashed three sixes to bring the equation in check. The right-hander from Delhi smashed two sixes against Haris Rauf and it was the turning point of the game.
“@imVkohli, it was undoubtedly the best innings of your life. It was a treat to watch you play, the six off the back foot in the 19th over against Rauf over long on was spectacular! Keep it going. #INDvPAK #T20WorldCup,” Tendulkar tweeted.
On the other hand, former Indian opener Virender Sehwag also showered praise on Virat Kohli and said it is the best T20I innings he has seen.
“Yaayyyy…Happyyy Deepawali What an amazing game. High on emotions, but this is the most brilliant T20 Innings i have ever seen in a chase, take a bow, Virat Kohli. Chak De India #IndvsPak #t20worldcup,” Sehwag posted on Instagram.
Meanwhile, current as well as former players lauded Virat Kohli’s superman efforts to get India over the line in a thrilling chase.
India was almost out of the game when Kohli stunned one and all with his blistering batting. India will face the Netherlands at the SCG on Thursday.
