India’s in-form batter Suryakumar Yadav has enjoyed batting with Virat Kohli in the recent past. The duo stitched a crucial alliance of 95 runs in the team’s second match of the T20 World Cup 2022 at the Sydney Cricket Ground, Sydney on Thursday to help India propel to a par-score of 179 runs against the Netherlands.
Yadav went on to score an unbeaten knock of 51 runs off just 25 balls while Kohli scored his second consecutive fifty of the tournament as he scored 62 runs off 44 balls. India was 84-2 after 12 overs when Yadav joined forces with Virat Kohli and quick runs were the need of the hour.
SKY was able to once again hit the ground running as he took the attack against the Netherlands bowlers. Kumar was awarded the Player of the Match award for his fine knock and he revealed that his thought process is very clear when he is batting with Virat Kohli.
Yadav also stated that he tried to express himself when he went out to bat and wanted to give a lift to the run rate.
Suryakumar Yadav said in the post-match press conference, “I was just trying to express myself when I went in to bat. The situation was very simple, I just had to up the tempo at that time. I took one ball today (to get going), but the message was loud and clear. We had to get about 8-10 an over and get a total that our bowlers could defend easily. Very happy with the way things went. Really enjoyed batting with him (Kohli), the thoughts are very clear when we both are batting. If I get a few boundaries earlier then our partnership needs to be stretched and that’s what we are doing.”
Suryakumar has been batting at the top of his game and he played another fine knock to help his team get to a par score. Furthermore, Rohit Sharma was able to get among the runs as he scored 53 runs off 39 balls.
On the other hand, the Indian bowlers were right on the money as they restricted the Netherlands at 123-9, thus leading their team to a 56-run win. Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Arshdeep Singh all scalped two wickets each while Shami took one wicket.
India is growing in confidence after two wins in as many matches and they are currently at the top of Group 2. The Rohit Sharma-led team will next take on South Africa at the Perth Stadium, Perth on Sunday.
