Indian wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant believes Virat Kohli can teach him how to go through match situations. Kohli has all the experience under his belt and he has single-handedly won many big matches for the team.
The talisman is known to thrive in pressure situations and he has delivered the goods for the team. Kohli returned back to form in the Asia Cup 2022 as he scored 276 runs in five matches of the tournament at an average of 92 and a strike rate of 147.59.
Subsequently, he scored a fine knock of 63 runs in the deciding T20I against Australia and stitched a crucial alliance with Suryakumar Yadav. The linchpin also scored an unbeaten knock of 49 runs in the second T20I against South Africa.
Kohli is known to be the best chaser in the white-ball format and he has savored great success in his career.
“He (Kohli) can actually teach you how to go through situations, which might help you in your cricket journey going forward, so it is nice batting with him as always,” Pant was quoted as saying by the T20 World Cup site.
“It’s good to have someone with a lot of experience batting with you because he can tell you how to take the game on and how to maintain that run-a-ball pressure kind of thing.”
Kohli is going to hold the key for the team in the T20 World Cup and India’s chances of going all the way will significantly increase if the Delhi player has a good tournament.
On the other hand, Rishabh Pant might not get his chance in the starting XI against Pakistan as Dinesh Karthik might be preferred ahead of him in the high-octane clash.
Pant has a great record in the Australian conditions but he hasn’t been consistent in the shortest format of the game. Karthik, meanwhile, has done a fine job as a finisher in the T20I version.
India and Pakistan will take on each other at the iconic MCG on Sunday.
