India will take on the West Indies in a virtual quarterfinal of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026 at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata on Sunday. The weather in the city is going to be sunny and thus we will have a full game. India had registered a comprehensive 72-run win against Zimbabwe and as South Africa defeated West Indies by nine wickets, this game becomes a knockout round between the two teams.

India posted an above-par score of 256 runs on the board against Zimbabwe and that batting effort must have given them a lot of confidence. Abhishek Sharma’s return to form was the biggest positive for the team whereas Tilak Varma did a fantastic job while adding the finishing touches. West Indies’ doesn’t have a potent bowling unit and Indian batters would look to take advantage.

The sixth-bowling option could be India’s Achilles Heel as Shivam Dube was taken for 46 runs in two overs he bowled against Zimbabwe. Furthermore, Varun Chakravarthy hasn’t been at his absolute best in the last two games.

On the other hand, West Indies top and middle order had crumbled against South Africa before Jason Holder and Romario Shepherd came up with a rescue act.  Shai Hope’s team will look to come up with an improved show to book their semifinals berth.
