Australian all-rounder Cameron Green has squashed rumors suggesting he might miss the upcoming IPL 2023. Green has revealed that it’s not true and he is 100% committed to play in the upcoming season of the lucrative league.
Green was brought for a whopping amount of INR 17.50 crores in the recent mini auction by five-time champions Mumbai Indians, making him the second-most expensive player in the IPL history.
Meanwhile, Green recently broke his finger in the second Test match against South Africa and had to undergo surgery. As per the advisory of Cricket Australia, Green can bowl in the IPL from April 13.
“No, that’s not correct,” Green told SEN Sportsday WA, when asked about the report. “I’ve heard about this for a quite a while now I think. I don’t know where it’s come from. I’ve heard that I’m 100 per cent available for both skill sets in the IPL at the start, so yeah, I’m not too sure where that’s kind of come from.”
Green also has his eye on the first Test match against India, which will begin on February 9 in Nagpur. The all-rounder feels he and Mitchell Starc will be tough and go for the first Test.
“Obviously my first priority is the Test Series that’s beforehand. I think me and Starcy (Mitchell Starc) are maybe touch and go for that first one but obviously, we’ll give ourselves the best chance,” Green said.
It has been observed a huge price tag can put pressure on a particular player but Green wants to stay humble and focus on his performance.
“Yeah obviously it (auction) turned out really well but I think at the same time you want to go out there and perform and kind of re-pay the faith they showed you,” Green said.
“I think just having the right people around you I think keeps you pretty humble in a way. You’ve got the right people to drag you down if you get too ahead of yourself, but also the right people to bring you back up when you’re going not as great as you like.
Meanwhile, Green impressed one and all on the tour of India in 2022. Green had scored 118 runs in three T20Is at an average of 39.33 and a whirlwind strike rate of 214.55.
