Australia’s attacking batter Travis Head has opened up on Virat Kohli’s threat ahead of the Border-Gavaskar trophy against India. Kohli isn’t in the best of forms and he will be determined to turn the tables against Pat Cummins’ team.
Kohli could only score 93 runs in three Test matches at an average of 15.50 whereas he scored only 99 runs in two Test matches against Bangladesh at an average of 33.
However, Kohli has scored 2042 runs in 25 Test matches against Australia at an average of 47.48, including eight centuries. Kohli has even better numbers while playing in Australia as he has scored 1352 runs in 13 Test matches at an impressive average of 54.08, including six centuries.
“There’s not a series that you would play India and you not talk about Virat Kohli. No doubt that we’ll go through all the players and we’ve started this morning and just prepare the same way as we always do. We want to start well against him come the first morning, but he’s going to have his moments in the series and hopefully not too many of them,” said Head while talking to the reporters.
“He’s a world class player and over 5 Tests at some stage he’s probably gonna play well, we understand that, we respect that, and, yeah, we just try our best to, to nullify that. We hope we’ll have some guys on our team that also have really good great moments over 5 Tests.”
On the other hand, Virat Kohli ranked his 123-run knock at Perth in 2018-19 as his best innings in the Australian conditions. But Kohli’s heroics with the bat had gone in vain as India suffered a 146-run loss
“My best knock in Australia is definitely my hundred at Perth, 2018-19 series that we played. I thought that’s the toughest pitch that I’ve played on in Test cricket, it was great to have a hundred on that one,” said Kohli in a video shared by BCCI.
The opening Test match between India and Australia will be played at Perth from November 22 onwards.
