India’s head coach Ravi Shastri has claimed that the pressure is on England as they are playing in their own conditions. India had recently won the series against England by 3-1 and Shastri feels the Joe Root-led will be under the pump.
Meanwhile, the hosts had made a resounding comeback in the Leeds Test match after losing the second Test at Lord’s. England had skittled India out for a paltry score of 78 runs in the first innings and it was defining moment of the match.
England will aim to continue the impetus while India will look to bounce back after the ignominious defeat of innings and 76 runs at Leeds. The hosts had come up with a collective effort in the third Test match whereas India’s batting had let them down.
The series is tied at 1-1 and Shastri feels the pressure will be on England to take the lead in their own conditions.
Shastri said while talking to Times Now Navbharat, “If anyone thinks that this Indian team is going to back off, they have another one coming because at 1-1, we are playing overseas, the pressure is on England. They have to win in their own country. We have done what we had to do with them in India. So, the ball is in their court and we will fight, there’s no question about it”.
India will look to come up with a better batting performance as their middle order has failed to deliver the goods. The likes of Virat Kohli, Cheteshwar Pujara, and Ajinkya Rahane have failed to get going on a consistent basis in the series. India’s bowling unit has done a fine job but they haven’t got the backing from the batting unit.
On the other hand, Joe Root has been in sublime form for England as he has scored 507 runs in three Test matches while James Anderson has also bowled at the top of his game.
