They might find it difficult – Tanvir Ahmed feels Indian batters could struggle to fill the big shoes of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli

Former Pakistan fast bowler Tanvir Ahmed believes the young Indian batters could struggle to fill in the big shoes of veteran duo of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. The talismanic duo recently retired from T20Is after World Cup triumph but they will continue to play in ODIs and Test cricket.

Ahmed noted that India’s bowling will be fine but their batting could struggle after Kohli and Rohit’s retirement. India will certainly have their work cut after the duo’s retirement as they have been performing consistently in the last 15 years.

While Rohit scored 257 runs in eight matches of the T20 World Cup, Kohli scored a crucial knock of 76 runs in the all-important final after having a rough tournament.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were also brilliant in the ODI World Cup 2023. Rohit scored 597 runs in 11 matches of the World Cup 2023 at an average of 54.27 and a blistering strike rate of 125.95. The talisman scored three fifties and one century in the ODI showpiece.

On the other hand, Virat Kohli finished the tournament as the highest run-getter with 765 runs in 11 matches at an average of 95.62 and a strike rate of 90.32. Ergo, he was awarded Player of the tournament for his consistent performances.

“All the new batters in this Indian team at the moment, barring Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, they cannot carry forward this batting lineup in the future,” Tanvir Ahmed said on his YouTube Channel.

“You see what happens to the Indian batting lineup from here on in the future. The bowling lineup might work it out but the batting lineup will find it difficult,” he added

Ahmed reckons Indian batters will be able to score their runs on flat pitches but they would struggle in conditions, which offer assistance to the bowlers.

“They might score runs in their home conditions on flat pitches but on pitches where the ball turns seams and swings this batting lineup of India does not have the life to bat in those conditions,” he said.

Ahmed believes Pakistan will easily beat India if the latter is without the services of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Jasprit Bumrah.

“First look into your own performances and then have suggestions on Pakistan. If Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah do not play against Pakistan, Pakistan will beat India hands down,” he said.
