This West Indies side is a bit intimidating – Deep Dasgupta feels Windies are favorites for T20 World Cup

Former Indian wicket-keeper batsman Deep Dasgupta feels the current West Indies side is a bit intimidating and they will be favorites for the upcoming T20 World Cup in the UAE. West Indies are always a dangerous team in the shortest format of the game and they have big hitters in their team.

Furthermore, the Windies have the experience of Dwayne Bravo, Kieron Pollard and Chris Gayle and Andre Russell, who are the T20 specialists.

Meanwhile, West Indies have taken an impregnable lead of 3-0 in the ongoing five-match series against Australia. The Windies had lost the series against South Africa but they had made a roaring comeback against the Aaron Finch-led team.

West Indies have already won the T20 World Cup twice and they are the only team to do so. Thus, there is no doubt that the Kieron Pollard-led team will enter the T20I showpiece as the hot favorites.

Deep Dasgupta said while talking on YouTube Channel, “West Indies was generally a power-hitting squad, which scored 180-200 and depended heavily on their batting.

But if you look at the previous series and this one, their bowlers have done well. Obed McCoy, Hayden Walsh Jr., they have been really good. Sheldon Cottrell is also there, so they have a really good bowling side along with all-rounders.”

In fact, Kieron Pollard didn’t even play in the series against Australia due to injury and Nicholas Pooran has led in his place.

“This West Indies side is a bit intimidating as well. If you look at the form, the big-hitters are in good nick. Andre Russell has scored runs, Gayle storm has hit this series in the last T20I. This T20 team looks really good. Their captain Kieron Pollard is not even playing due to injury. It is being said, Sunil Narine will also make a comeback when he is ready.”

“Pollard is not fit as of now. So if he comes back, who will the West Indies leave out? It is a difficult decision because that’s how good this team is. They might have to drop Dwayne Bravo, whose performance in this series has been very good. This West Indies side looks scary,” Dasgupta further added.

West Indies have the players who can take them to glory in the T20 World Cup and they will be the favorites for the big event. The T20 World Cup will be played in the UAE from October 17.
