Ruby Trichy Warriors captain Rahil Shah admitted that their execution wasn’t up to the mark against Chepauk Super Gillies after they lost by a huge margin of 44 runs at the NPR College Ground, Dindigul on Wednesday.
CSG posted a par score of 203-8 against RTW after Shah won the toss and decided to bowl first.
CSG had a mixed start as they lost their openers Kaushik Gandhi and N Jagadeesan early in the innings. However, S Radhakrishnan and Sasidev batted at the top of their game to put together 117 runs for the third wicket. Radhakrishnan scored a fine knock of 81 runs whereas Sasidev contributed with 65 runs.
Ajay Krishna was the pick of the bowlers for RTW as he scalped three wickets. On the other hand, Santosh Shiv scored 59 runs for RTW but the rest of the batters failed to contribute in the run chase.
S Harish Kumar picked three wickets for CSG whereas S Alexander took two wickets. RTW was never in the run-chase as they could not get any partnership going.
Rahil Shah said in the post-match presentation, “Our execution wasn’t up to the mark. Vijay is out for personal reasons. We hope he is back for the next game. It will be a do-or-die game for us. We will try to do well.”
On the other hand, Kaushik Gandhi was delighted after his team registered their first win of the tournament.
Gandhi said after the game, “We knew what the two guys are capable of. We back them and they have been doing well in the nets. We take each game as it comes.
S Radhakrishnan was awarded the Player of the Match and he said after the match: “It is easy when you become familiar with the bowling. There was some adrenalin rush which ensured there were some mistakes.”
Chepauk Super Gillies will face Lyca Kovai Kings on Tuesday at the SNR College Cricket Ground, Coimbatore while Ruby Trichy Warriors will also take on the same team on Sunday at the same venue.
