Indian opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has opened up on his celebration after the Men in Blue registered a seven-wicket win against Zimbabwe at Harare Sports Club on Thursday. Sooryavanshi scored a blistering knock of 50 runs off 19 balls with the help of four fours and as many sixes.

The youngster brought up his maiden T20I fifty after a difficult start to his International career. The prodigy batter was able to hit the ground running in the run-chase of 126 and a six over long-off while playing on the backfoot was the highlight of his innings.

After reaching his personal milestone, Sooryavanshi performed his typical ‘A’ celebration, which he dedicated to his mother.

Sooryavanshi said on BCCI, “I did that celebration for my mom, and the other one was based on a conversation with Rinku Bhaiya, and I had (Humara aur Rinku bhaiya ka baat hua tha).

The youngster further dedicated his fifty to his family, coaches and all the supporters.

“I would dedicate this (fifty) to my family, to my coaches, and to everyone who has supported me along my journey through every good and bad phase.”

Sooryavanshi revealed he was in his zone in the series opener against Zimbabwe as he batted at the top of his game.

“When it’s the starting phase of your career, and you get these kinds of innings early on and you perform well, it builds confidence for the upcoming matches. And it felt like I was in my zone, and I just backed my strength; that was all. You could say that I like the vibe here. There are some grounds where you just love scoring runs. Maybe it’s like that, but I’m not taking this for granted at all. I’m just trying to give my best, contribute to the team, and perform well wherever I play.”

The second T20I between India and Zimbabwe will be played at Harare Sports Club on Saturday.
