Delhi head coach Vijay Dahiya is hopeful to have Virat Kohli in his dressing room for the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Kohli is currently playing for India in the ongoing ODI series against New Zealand.
The talisman had played a couple of matches for Delhi in the previous season of the 50-over domestic tournament. In the previous edition, he had given some useful tips to Prince Yadav.
Dahiya said he will ask Kohli to share his experience with young players at Delhi. Kohli has all the experience under his belt and he can guide the youngsters on the right path.
“If he wants to play, I would love to have him in this dressing room. I would love to have him there just to talk to the boys. I won’t let him go home. I’ll make him sit in the dressing room and tell the boys about his journey, the hard work, the ethics, and the honour of playing for the country,” said Dahiya (via TOI).
“I have seen him through all the stages. I can tell the boys where he started and where he is today. There is a pathway. Maybe you cannot become Virat, but you can become someone if you do certain things the right way.”
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli scored a match-winning knock of 74 runs off just 51 balls in the series opener against New Zealand at Eden Park, Auckland. The pitch had assistance for the bowlers but Kohli was the standout batter in the run chase of 143.
The second ODI between India and New Zealand will be played at the Hnry Stadium, Wellington, on Saturday.
