Former West Indies batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul stated that Indian captain Virat Kohli is the best batsman in the world. Kohli is the most consistent batsman in the game and his records speaks for himself. The talisman is the solitary batsman who has an average of more than 50 in all the three forms of the game.
Kohli is at the numero uno position in the ODI rankings whereas he is placed at the second rank in the Test rankings. The right-hander has done a fine job for the Indian team and he has been instrumental in the success of the team over the years.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli has been a chase master in the ODI format and the way he plans the run chase is incredible.
Chanderpaul, who did a fine job for the West Indies in his career, believes Kohli’s hard work on his game has helped him reap fruits. Kohli is known to give his 120% on the field and he has set a new benchmark of fitness in the Indian team.
Chanderpaul added that Kohli has done a fantastic job to consistently remain at the top of his game, which is not easy to do for a long time. When the former southpaw batsman was asked who is the best batsman in the world, Chanderpaul named Kohli while speaking to Sportstar.
“Obviously, it’s Virat Kohli. He has been working on all the aspects of his game, and the results are showing,” he said.
“He is working hard on his fitness; he works on his skills. You see him putting in the hard work, and he is one of those guys who always wants to do well. He’s proven it, day in and day out,” the former left-handed batsman added.
“You have to give credit to him for that. It’s not easy to stay at the top of your game for so long. You got to put in your work, and the results are showing,”
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli has produced the right results for the team. Kohli has thus far amassed more than 21000 runs and he has scored 70 centuries in his illustrious career. However, the right-hander wasn’t in the best of forms on the recent tour of New Zealand as he scored only 38 runs in the two Test matches at an average of 9.37.
Virat Kohli will lead Royal Challengers Bangalore in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League, if it happens. The tournament is under the dark clouds due to the outbreak of the coronavirus.
