The Indian skipper Virat Kohli has revealed the most fun innings of his career. Kohli selected the 113-run knock which he played against Kings XI Punjab in the Indian Premier League 2016. The Royal Challengers Bangalore captain was at his best in the season and he was flawless in the truncated match of 15 overs versus KXIP.
Punjab captain Murali Vijay had won the toss and decided to bowl first. Kohli was timing the ball to perfection and added a gargantuan opening alliance of 147 runs with Chris Gayle. The left-hander was also at his best as he had raced to 73 runs off just 32 balls.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli was milking the Kings XI Punjab bowlers with ease. The talisman scored a dozen fours and eight sixes in his blistering knock of 50 balls as he scored at a strike rate of 226. Kohli added that he felt so confident as if he could not get out as he was connecting everything.
When Kevin Pietersen asked Kohli about his most fun innings in a live Instagram interaction, the latter said “Against KXIP in the IPL. It was a 14-15 over game, I got a 100 in 12 overs. I felt that I was connecting everything and I could not get out. I’ve never felt like that before or after”.
On the other hand, Virat Kohli was at his absolute best in the 2016 season of the IPL. The right-hander amassed 973 runs in 16 matches at a staggering average of 81.08 and a blistering strike rate of 152.03. Kohli’s tally of 973 runs is the most runs in a single season of the IPL.
Furthermore, Kohli had scored four centuries in that season which is also a record in IPL history. Thus, Kohli was in the form of his life in IPL 2016 but could not lead his team to glory as they lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final by eight runs.
Virat Kohli is also the leading run-getter in the IPL folklore as he has scored 5412 runs in 177 matches at an average of 37.85.
