Renowned Indian umpire Virender Sharma has put his weight behind Vaibhav Sooryavanshi to find success anywhere after scoring consistently in IPL 2026. Sooryavanshi has hogged all the limelight after impressing one and all with his consistent performances in IPL 2026.
Recently, Sooryavanshi ended the IPL 2026 season with 776 runs in 16 matches at an average of 48.50 and a blistering strike rate of 237.30. He ended as the leading run-getter in the tournament and thus bagged the Orange Cap. Along with it, he was awarded the MVP of the tournament, Super Striker of the Season, Emerging Player of the season, and also bagged the award for the most sixes (72) in the season.
Ego, he received his maiden T20I call-up for the UK tour, where India will play two T20Is against Ireland and five T20Is against England.
“Absolutely. If you see IPL is the most challenging tournament in the world. So if he’s performing in IPL, it means that he’s got the capability, he’s got the ability to score runs in front of, you know, many foreign players, many foreign bowlers. So if he is successful in IPL, definitely he will do some wonder for India in the international match,” Virender Sharma said on PTI.
The ICC paneled umpire added that Sooryavanshi has an amazing talent and has all the skills to find more success at the top level.
“Is amazing talent. Whatever I have seen him during the last few IPLs, it’s amazing. I mean, he’s got so good strength in his arms and all. Good eyes, good hand-eye coordination, good for India that I’m looking forward to see him for, I mean for two, three years more then I can say anything about his progress,” Sharma said.
Sooryavanshi scored an impressive knock of 44 runs off just 22 balls to give a quick start to his team against Afghanistan A.
