Former Indian opener Wasim Jaffer has slammed Team India’s critics amid the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026. Jaffer said a lot of experts had questioned India’s scheduling in the Champions Trophy as the Men in Blue had played all their matches in Dubai after the Indian government had not given them permission of traveling to Pakistan.

India had remained unbeaten in the 50-over tournament and had gone all the way.

Similarly, Pakistan has enjoyed a similar fate as they have played all their matches in Sri Lanka, as they were not willing to travel to India. However, irrespective of the known conditions, Pakistan suffered a crushing 61-run loss against India at the R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, on Sunday.

As other teams are traveling to Sri Lanka to play against Pakistan, Jaffer highlighted that there have been no complaints from any boffins.

Jaffer wrote on X, “Pakistan were based in Colombo and had already played multiple games there before facing India. Didn’t see many complaints then about scheduling giving teams an advantage, unlike during the Champions Trophy. Guess it doesn’t fit the narrative.”

Meanwhile, India, South Africa, the West Indies, and Zimbabwe all topped their respective groups in the first stage but will not have any advantage in the Super 8 stage. The former domestic giant, Jaffer, said the group toppers should ideally carry two points in the next stage of the tournament.

“Great to see Zim and WI top their groups. Slightly unfair that it counts for nothing in the Super 8s. Group toppers should carry 2 points forward as they’ve already beaten one of the Super 8 qualifiers,” said Jaffer (via the aforementioned source).

India will take on South Africa in their opening game of the Super 8 stage at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, on Sunday.
