Former Indian Test opener Wasim Jaffer feels Rohit Sharma’s focus is on playing the 2027 ODI World Cup. There have been doubts raised about Rohit’s future but he has been included in the ODI series against the West Indies.
Rohit scored a stunning knock of 138 runs off just 110 balls in the last ODI against England to put all doubts on his future to bed. The veteran batter has performed consistently over the years and has also worked hard on his fitness in recent times.
Wasim Jaffer said on his YouTube Channel, “Knowing how the Indian team operates, they would have clarified this to him. But the media has the habit of talking about these things. Rohit Sharma is not the kind of player whom you’ll judge after two or three failures. He has done so much.”
Jaffer said doubts on Rohit Sharma’s future should not be there as he has been a consistent performer for the team.
“If Rohit Sharma has made himself available, his eyes will be on the 2027 World Cup. He is not working so hard to play bilaterals. So, I think Ajit Agarkar or Gautam Gambhir should give that clarity. Rohit Sharma is beyond selection chatter. You cannot judge him on the basis of one or two innings. They should end this debate.”
Rohit would look to be at his best in the ODI series against the West Indies.
