Former Indian Test opener Wasim Jaffer slammed Team India’s attitude on the final day of the second Test match against Sri Lanka at Colombo. The home team had a lead of only 16 runs at the end of the fourth day and India needed four wickets to wrap up Sri Lankan innings. But the visitors could not close out the game as Sonal Dinusha played another brilliant knock of 133 runs.

Furthermore, he received support from Keshara Nuwantha and Lahiru Kumara, who batted for 150 and 90 balls respectively.

Indian bowlers could not get much help from the surface and the bowling looked a bit toothless despite bowling to tailenders.

Wasim Jaffer said on his YouTube Channel, “I felt there might have been complacency as they needed to take just four wickets. Things got harder and harder, and you end up giving more runs while trying different things. Probably that was the case. The defensive field set surprised me. We went to a defensive field set very early.”

The former domestic giant admitted India were a little low on energy on the final day of the Test match.

“Somewhere I felt India were a little low on energy at the start of the day. They thought that they would get out, rather than having the attitude that we will have to dismiss them. By the time the Indian team woke up, I think they were set, and things were going in their favor.”

Sri Lanka posted 429-9 in the second innings as India could not find the answers. The tail was able to wag throughout the final day and it was a disappointing result for India.

India won the two-match Test series by 1-0 as they had won the Galle Test by 165 runs.
