USA’s fast bowler Ali Khan is optimistic of repeating the T20 World Cup heroics against Pakistan if they once again meet the Men in Green. The Americans had stunned Pakistan in the T20I showpiece group stage match.
Pakistan posted a score of 159 runs on the board at the Grand Prairie Stadium, Dallas and the hosts managed the same total. However, the home team registered a memorable win as they won the Super Over by five runs. Khan had returned with impressive figures of 1-30 in his four-over quota.
As a result, Pakistan could not even qualify for the Super 8 of the T20 World Cup whereas the USA was able to reach the next stage of the tournament.
Speaking to a local sports platform, Ali Khan said as quoted by Cricket Pakistan, “We weren’t under pressure, they were. We knew we were capable of beating them. We beat Pakistan in all four departments, including fitness.”
Khan said they can beat any team on their day and their win against Pakistan wasn’t a fluke.
“We are capable enough of beating them (the Men in Green) again. No disrespect to them, but I think we are a really good side, if we have a full-strength squad we can beat any team on our day, not just Pakistan but it will be a great game of we play them again.”
After the T20I showpiece, Pakistan was also stunned by Bangladesh in a two-match Test series despite playing at home. Pakistan lost the opening Test by 10 wickets and then suffered a six-wicket loss in the second Test against the Tigers.
Pakistan will next take on England in a three-match Test series at home, starting October 7.
