Former Indian spinner Maninder Singh reckons the opposition will target Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s weaknesses. After Sooryavanshi was stumped on his T20I debut against England, he received a bumper from his Rajasthan Royals teammate Jofra Archer in the second game at Trent Bridge, Nottingham.

After scoring 13 runs, Sooryavanshi got a faint edge to the keeper, Jos Buttler, when he was looking to hit the bouncer to the leg side. 

Sooryavanshi was dismissed after scoring 14 runs on his debut. In the fourth game of the series, the youngster was once dismissed on a short delivery by Jofra Archer after scoring 15 runs.

“When you start playing with men after being with the U-19 players, and according to that level, he is a very, very good cricketer. But when you start playing with men, and the conditions were like that in England, where there was a little bounce, there must be some weaknesses that the international teams will catch,” Maninder Singh said as quoted by News18 CricketNext.

Singh highlighted that the team’s analysts leave no stone unturned in finding a player’s weakness.

“It’s because in today’s time, so many videos are watched and attempts are made to find weaknesses. So, that will continue, and now that you have started playing international cricket, people will also wonder how this 15-year-old will make runs. So, you will get to see a little extra effort by the bowlers to outsmart him,” Singh added.

The former Indian cricketer said Sooryavanshi’s coach follows him regularly and provides him the right inputs.

“It’s because in today’s time, so many videos are watched and attempts are made to find weaknesses. So, that will continue, and now that you have started playing international cricket, people will also wonder how this 15-year-old will make runs. So, you will get to see a little extra effort by the bowlers to outsmart him,” Singh added.

Sooryavanshi scored a fine knock of 50 runs off just 19 balls in the opening T20I against Zimbabwe on Thursday.
