India’s attacking wicket-keeper bat Rishabh Pant has revealed he feels proud while representing the national team at the top level. Pant said it is surreal feeling when he hears national anthem while donning the Blue Indian jersey before the game.
Meanwhile, Pant scored 446 runs in 13 matches of IPL 2024 at an average of 40.55 and a strike rate of 155.40 and thus he was in decent form in the tournament despite making a comeback after 18-month hiatus.
The left-hander scored a fine fifty in the warm-up match against Bangladesh and carried his purple patch against Ireland in the team’s opener of the T20 World Cup, scoring 36 runs off 26 balls at New York.
“Whenever I hear the National Anthem, especially when I am wearing India jersey, it gives me goosebumps. Because it is a proud moment as an individual to get an opportunity to represent your country, an opportunity to do well. When the match starts, everyone has an equal chance to do well. Every day, you can do something nice in your life. I’m thankful for the opportunities I’ve got in life from where I can do well,” Pant said while speaking to Star Sports.
On the other hand, Rishabh Pant was banned for one match against RCB in the IPL due to slow overrate and he tried to sledge Virat Kohli from the dressing room.
“It happened during the RCB game. I was banned without doing anything. I tried a lot to prevent it but it was uncontrollable, not in my hands. Sitting outside I thought I’ll disturb the mindset or something because the RCB dressing room is right behind the sightscreen. At first I did not know. I thought they are calling their own teammates. Then when I realised, I thought I might as well tease him a little more. I didn’t give him the chance to say anything because I escaped,” Pant said on ‘Aap ki Adaalat’.
India will face arch-rivals Pakistan at New York on Sunday.
