Former Indian wicket-keeper Parthiv Patel showered praise on Arshdeep Singh for bowling the tough overs for India. Patel feels Singh has grown in confidence after delivering the goods in the fag end of the innings. The youngster was once again right on the money in the second T20I against the West Indies on Monday.
The left-arm pacer conceded only four runs in the 17th over of the innings and then gave away only six runs in the penultimate over he bowled. Singh scalped one wicket and conceded only 26 runs in the quota of four overs. However, his efforts went in vain as Avesh Khan could not defend 10 runs in the final over as India lost by five wickets.
Meanwhile, Arshdeep Singh has been bowling accurately at the death overs. Singh had done a brilliant job while playing for Punjab Kings in the IPL 2022 as he had snared 10 wickets in 14 matches and had bowled with an economy rate of 7.70.
Singh has a potent yorker under his repertoire and he can also bamboozle the batters with slower balls.
Parthiv Patel said on Cricbuzz: “That is something he has been doing for Punjab Kings, he has been bowling those tough overs, that is the reason why you could see the confidence in him. There was an instance where Rohit came in and he did not talk much to Arshdeep, which showed he knew what he was going to do. That shows how mature he is and how well he has learned while bowling for Punjab.”
Patel added that Singh is mostly in control and he knows what he has to do in crunch situations of the game. The youngster also used the around-the-wicket angle to good effect.
Patel said, “Arshdeep used the angle really well, the ball was not reversing as such but he used it really well, particularly with Powell’s wicket where it looked like it swung in.”
“He was bowling the slower ones really well too, he is in control, he knows what he needs to do.”
Meanwhile, Arshdeep Singh must have grown in confidence after performing well for the national team. Singh is only three T20Is old in his International career but he has shown the right maturity as a bowler and he can handle the pressure situations. Ergo, the fast bowler from Punjab has definitely made a case for himself for the T20 World Cup.
