India’s bowling coach Paras Mhambrey has lauded the performance of rising star Arshdeep Singh, stating the youngster has the ability to absorb pressure. Singh is known to hold his nerves in the fag end of the innings and he has shown the same while playing for Punjab Kings in the IPL.
The left-arm pacer has a great yorker under his arsenal and he can also trouble the opposition batters with his slower ball. Meanwhile, Singh conceded only 26 runs in the four overs he bowled against West Indies in the second T20I and also took a wicket.
The fast bowler from Punjab conceded only four runs in the 17th over he bowled and then gave away six runs in the 19th over to keep India in the game. However, Avesh Khan could not defend 10 runs in the final over Furthermore, Singh has the ability to move the ball both ways in the PowerPlay overs.
Singh has so far played only three T20Is in his young career but he has shown a lot of maturity and composure in his game, which is vital for savoring success in the shortest format. Arshdeep has picked five wickets in three games and he has bowled with an economy rate of 5.91, which is really impressive.
Paras Mhambrey said in the press conference, “I’ve been watching him for a long time now, since the IPL as well. Something that really stood out for me was his ability to absorb pressure. If you look at it, he bowls the hard overs, the overs in the powerplay and also at the death. In terms of the composure he has shown, I’m very happy, especially the way he turned up in the last game as well.
“This game, the 17th over he bowled, showed a lot about the ability that he has. I’m very happy to see him deliver for the team,” he added.
Arshdeep Singh has definitely made a case for himself for the T20 World Cup. He has been ticking the right boxes and he can definitely add value to the team.
The youngster will look to continue his good form for the Indian team and keep delivering the goods. The third T20I between India and West Indies will be played on Tuesday.
