Former Indian pacer Venkatesh Prasad has showered praise on Arshdeep Singh, who has been taking giant strides in the recent past. Singh has impressed with his skills after making his debut for the national team against England.
The left-arm pacer from Punjab had bowled with an impressive economy rate of 7.70 in the IPL 2022 while playing for Punjab Kings. The 23-year-old then made a brilliant debut against England as he took two wickets and also bowled a maiden first over.
Singh scalped seven wickets in five T20I matches against West Indies and bowled with a fine economy rate of 6.58. Thus, he was awarded the Player of the series for his prolific performance in the series.
Singh has impressed with his ability to nail the yorkers and he can also bowl accurately in the powerplay overs. The youngster took 3-12 in the fourth T20I against the Windies.
Prasad said that Arshdeep Singh is as good as anyone in the cricket world and he is the man to watch out for in the future.
Prasad took to Twitter to post, “Arshdeep Singh at 23 in the death overs is as good as anyone in World cricket. Early says in his career but seems to have a very steady head on his shoulders besides great skills. Man to watch out for #IndvWI.”
On the other hand, former Indian selector Kris Srikkanth had earlier heaped praise on Arshdeep Singh. The former Indian opener predicted that Singh will be the world no.1 in the T20I rankings and urged Chetan Sharma to select him for the T20 World Cup squad.
“He will be the future world no.1 in T20Is. He is simply outstanding. Arshdeep Singh! Make a note of it. He will be in the T20 World Cup team. Come on Chetu, please take his name also,” he had said on Fan Code.
There is no doubt that Arshdeep Singh has got a cool head on his shoulders and he is going to hold the key for the Indian team in the T20I showpiece.
The left-arm pacer has a bright future and he has shown the skills to go a long way in his career. Singh will be seen in action in the ODI series against Zimbabwe.
