WI vs IND 2022: I got confidence of death bowling from Rajasthan Royals: Yuzvendra Chahal after India’s 1st ODI win

Indian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has revealed that he gained the confidence of death bowling from the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League. Chahal had earlier played for Royal Challengers Bangalore and was then purchased by Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2022 mega auction.

The wily leg-spinner was utilized at the death by RR captain Sanju Samson. Chahal had a dream run in IPL 2022 as he bagged the Purple Cap after taking 27 wickets in 17 matches for Rajasthan Royals and thus played an instrumental role in taking the franchise to the final of the tournament. Out of these 27 scalps, seven came while bowling in the death overs for Chahal.

Chahal is not afraid of flighting the ball and mostly entices a false shot from the opposition batter by bowling wide of the off-stump.

The 32-year-old took two wickets in the first ODI against the West Indies, which India won by three runs to register an emphatic win. Chahal took the big wicket of Brandon King, who scored a fine knock of 54 runs, in the 45th over to help the visitors get back into the contest.

Yuzvendra Chahal told reporters after the first ODI, “I was confident (of bowling in death) from there (Rajasthan Royals). They have given me a role where I need to bowl 2-3 overs after the 40-over mark.”

Chahal also commented on Shikhar Dhawan, who is known for his jolly nature. Dhawan did a fine job as a leader and also played a match-winning knock of 97 runs to help the tourists go past the 300-run mark.

“I think he (Dhawan) is a cool guy. He is bonding with everyone and is like a brother. We don’t just talk about our plans, we also have fun on and off the field.”

Meanwhile, Chahal has been in prolific form and he will look to continue the same in the ongoing West Indies tour. He is India’s first-choice spinner in the limited-overs format and he has proven his mettle on numerous occasions.
