India’s spinner Kuldeep Yadav is proud of the character which was shown by the young side in the recent T20I series against the West Indies. The visitors lost the first two matches but bounced back to level the series. However, India lost the deciding T20I by eight wickets and thus the series by 3-2.
Tilak Varma, Mukesh Kumar, and Yashasvi Jaiswal were the positives for the team on the West Indies tour as the trio grabbed their chances.
On the other hand, Kuldeep Yadav was at his absolute best in the five-match T20I series. Yadav scalped six wickets in four matches at an average of 15.33 and an economy rate of 5.75, the best in the series for any bowler.
Yadav dismissed in-form Nicholas Pooran in the third and the fourth T20I and thus played a key role in the team’s win.
“We are gutted with the result but proud of the character shown by the group throughout the series. With the learnings, we will be back, stronger and better,” Kuldeep Yadav said on Twitter.
Earlier, Yadav had said that his focus is on the process and getting his line and length right.
“My focus is more on the process that what length I should be bowling,” he explained.
Yadav’s bowling was a big positive for the Indian team and he is going to hold the key in the upcoming Asia Cup and the all-important ODI World Cup. The left-arm spinner also took three wickets in three ODIs against the Windies but he was not part of the Test squad.
The 28-year-old from Kanpur will want to be at his best in the known Indian conditions in the ODI showpiece. Yadav has scalped 141 wickets in 84 ODI matches at an impressive average of 26.55.
India will be next in action in the T20I series against Ireland.
