India’s former veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh has predicted that Yashasvi Jaiswal will play for the national team for a very long time. Jaiswal has kicked off his Test journey in style as he scored a fine knock of 171 runs in his debut Test innings against the Wet Indies at Dominica.
Jaiswal broke a plethora of records in his maiden Test match innings as he scored the third-highest score for India on debut after Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma. Furthermore, Jaiswal showed all the patience in his marathon knock as he faced a total of 387 balls, the most by an Indian batter on debut.
The left-hander was able to keep the West Indies bowlers at bay despite challenging conditions. The southpaw scored 16 fours and one six and he was awarded Player of the Match.
Jaiswal definitely showed that he belongs at the top level and he has the skills to go a long way in his career.
“Yashasvi Jaiswal has had an impact straightaway in international cricket. Although he will be disappointed to have missed out on getting a double hundred, I feel we are going to see him play for India for a very long time. There’s no shortage of talent and my advice to Jaiswal would be that work really hard because you have what it takes to conquer the world,” said Harbhajan on his YouTube Channel.
On the other hand, Rohit Sharma scored his 10th Test match century, adding 103 runs. However, Virat Kohli missed a chance to score a hundred as he was dismissed after scoring 76 and the Turbanator reckons the talisman will be disappointed to miss out on the personal milestone.
“There was a lot of talk that Rohit hasn’t scored big runs for 2-3 years, so congratulations to him. Virat also looked good for his 76. However, he will be disappointed to not have got the hundred and his fans too were eagerly waiting for him to get to that landmark,” Harbhajan added.
The second Test match will be played from 20th July at the Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad.
