England will take on the Netherlands in the 40th match of the ongoing World Cup 2023 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune on Wednesday. The defending champions are already knocked out of the tournament whereas the Netherlands still have an outside chance to make it to the last four.
But the Dutch will need to win their last two matches by huge margins, which is going to be difficult. The Netherlands have impressed with their performances and their players must have grown in confidence with their impressive show.
On the other hand, it has been a forgettable tournament for England. They had a potent team but could not deliver with the bat as a unit. Moeen Ali admitted they are an aging team and thus a lot of changes could be expected to England’s white-ball team after the conclusion of the World Cup.
England lost their previous match against arch-rivals Australia by 33 runs as they once again could not get the job done with the bat. The Three Lions will want to finish their campaign on a high and will want to get their second win in the competition.
Meanwhile, the Netherlands lost their last game against Afghanistan by seven wickets after they could only manage 179 runs. Ergo, they also need to come up with a better batting display.
