Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly is hopeful that India will play good cricket for the next 45 days in the upcoming World Cup. India had last won a major ICC event back in 2013 when they won the Champions Trophy under the leadership of MS Dhoni.
Ergo, Team India will be looking to end their big title hoodoo in the upcoming ODI showpiece. India will enter the World Cup with high confidence as they have won six out of their last eight matches.
The Rohit Sharma-led team recently won their eighth Asia Cup title by beating Sri Lanka in the summit clash by 10 wickets. Subsequently, India won the three-match ODI series against Australia with a margin of2-1 by winning the first two matches convincingly.
“This is going to be a big World Cup. The World Cup is a big tournament. India has been playing very well, so it is a matter of delight. We hope that they continue to play the same good Cricket for the next 45 days,” Ganguly was quoted as saying to the reporters.
Indian players have been in great form in the recent past and they will look to continue the good show. The likes of Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, and Mohammed Siraj have been in terrific form. Furthermore, Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan, and Suryakumar Yadav have got the runs under their belt and thus the bench strength is also ready.
Meanwhile, Indian selectors have replaced the injured Axar Patel with Ravichandran Ashwin in India’s final World Cup squad.
India will begin their World Cup campaign against Australia at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on 8th October.
