World Cup 2023: Not worried about Ravindra Jadeja’s form – Sunil Gavaskar

Legendary Sunil Gavaskar is not concerned about Ravindra Jadeja’s dip in form in the recent past. Jadeja has scored 189 runs in 12 ODI innings in 2023 and he would want to turn the tables in the upcoming ODI showpiece.

Furthermore, the left-arm orthodox spinner has snared 15 wickets in as many matches at an average of 31.73. However, the Little Master lauded Jadeja for his all-round game.

It is well known that Jadeja is a terrific fielder and Gavaskar added he can also convert ones into twos as he is quick between the wickets.

Jadeja has all the experience of playing in the Indian conditions and he is going to hold the key while batting at number seven in the World Cup. Moreover, Jadeja had scored a decent knock of 35 runs in the third ODI against Australia.

“Not really. With the kind of experience that he has, it’s not a worry. The important thing is that he is such a fast runner between the wicket. Often, we overlook it… the fact that from the non-striker end, he helps the batter covert ones into twos. So, I think those are the little things that are important. So yeah, I am not worried about Ravindra Jadeja at all. He is a top player, a wonderful player… rockstar, like Shane Warne once said,” Sunil Gavaskar said as quoted by Hindustan Times.

Jadeja has scalped 204 wickets in 186 ODI matches at an average of 36.95. Furthermore, he has scored 2636 runs in his ODI career at an average of 32.14.

Jadeja has improved his batting by manifolds in the last couple of seasons but his recent form could be a cause of concern for the team. However, Jadeja has all the skills and experience to deliver in all three aspects of the game.

India will begin their World Cup campaign against Australia at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on 8th October.

India’s final World Cup 2023 squad: Rohit Sharma (C), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (WK), Ishan Kishan (WK), Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya (VC), Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah.
