World Cup 2023: Sri Lanka’s Schedule, Predicted Playing XI, Squad – All you need to know

    October 5, 2023

Sri Lanka will begin their World Cup campaign against South Africa at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi on 7th October. The Dasun Shanaka-led team recently made it to the final of the Asia Cup but they were rolled over by the Indian juggernauts.

After the continental tournament, Dasun Shanaka was reported to step down as Sri Lankan skipper but in the end, it was decided that he would continue to lead the team in the World Cup. Shanaka isn’t in the best of forms in the recent past and he would want to turn it around in the ODI showpiece.

Sri Lanka has some quality players in their team but they will certainly miss the services of talisman spinner Wanindu Hasaranga.

Sri Lanka’s Schedule for ODI World Cup 2023:

October 7, 2 PM: Sri Lanka v South Africa (Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi)
October 10, 2 PM: Sri Lanka v Pakistan (Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal, Hyderabad)
October 16, 2 PM: Sri Lanka v Australia (Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow)
October 21, 10.30 AM: Sri Lanka v Netherlands (Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow)
October 26, 2 PM: Sri Lanka v England (M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru)
October 30, 2 PM: Sri Lanka v Afghanistan (Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Gahunje, Pune)
November 2, 2 PM: Sri Lanka v India (Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai)
November 6, 2 PM: Sri Lanka v Bangladesh (Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi)
November 9, 2 PM: Sri Lanka v New Zealand (M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru)

Sri Lanka’s Probable Playing XI: Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Perera/Dimuth Karunaratne, Kusal Mendis, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Charith Asalanka, Dhananjaya de Silva, Dasun Shanaka, Dinuth Wellalage, Maheesh Theekshana, Matheesha Pathirana, Pramod Madushanka/Kasun Rajitha/Lahiru Kumara.

Sri Lanka Squad: Dasun Shanaka (c), Kusal Mendis (vc), Kusal Perera, Pathum Nissanka, Dimuth Karunaratne, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Charith Asalanka, Dhananjaya de Silva, Dushan Hemantha, Maheesh Theekshana, Dunith Wellalage, Kasun Rajitha, Matheesha Pathirana, Lahiru Kumara, Dilshan Madushanka

    Travelling reserve: Chamika Karunaratne
